A lot of owners have been asking me the same question lately: "Budget's tight — should I spend on AI first, or get my reservation system sorted first?"

My answer isn't "pick one" — it's a way to rank them. The short version: patch the gaps that cost you money directly or hurt your name first, then invest in the stuff that saves you time.

First, get clear: what each of these actually does for you

They solve fundamentally different problems:

  • Most AI tools save you time — writing replies, writing copy, sorting reviews, translating the menu. They let you do the same work faster, but if you skip them, the worst case is you're a bit more tired.

  • A reservation system keeps you from missing business and keeps you out of trouble — online booking, taking deposits, reminding guests, safeguarding customer data. Drop one link in that chain and it's a table gone; one incident and it's your name that takes the hit.
